Dear Readers of Alaskan Books, The most comprehensive bookstore solely devoted to Alaskan topics can be found at Dahlia and Denali in Palmer, Alaska. Alaskana Books is housed in a quaint frame structure that was once used as the hatchery for the Matanuska Colony in 1935. Coffee and cookies offer comfort and hospitality as you browse through the 25,000 Alaskan titles, maps, photos, out of print books and magazines that can be found on our shelves. For several months I had the honor of working with and learning from the former proprietor, Mr. Eugene Short. The collection had been under his most skillful care for 24 years. Since December 2000, when I opened the location in Palmer, hundreds of loyal customers have continued to enjoy the full service and friendly conversation provided here on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 – 5:30 each week. Visitors, travelers and residents of the Mat-Su Valley have enjoyed this literary jewel in its new setting. Nothing can replace thumbing through a rare old book, but I will try my best to give service by regular mail or e-mail or phone to find the Alaskan books or magazines you personally want to add to your collection. You may contact me by the address or phone numbers listed below. Since I have only single copies of some hard to acquire titles I will gladly hold them for the first person to phone or email with an order. I enjoy uniting a ‘good read’ with the ‘right reader’ and have had extraordinary luck with finding that special Alaskan book for that discerning reader. I can confirm your order by email and take payment by cash, check, Visa or Master Card. Sincerely, Lorie Kirker Alaskana Books Alaskana Books POB 940062 564 S.
